Nokia N8 Durability

One of the main aim from Nokia is the durability and strength of their phones and the manufacturer seems keen to convince consumers to that. The latest “victim” of this “need to affirm” the Finnish company Nokia is the N8, the star of a video illustrating the endurance which Nokia submit their terminals.
The smartphone, the new star of the brand was placed in a box for the “drop test” and subjected to 2 minutes of movements reminiscent of a washing machine in use. End result: No damages.
According to the manufacturer, the tests to the devices also include exposure to situations of “extreme weather” – they are subjected to temperatures between – 40 ° C to + 85 º C -; simulation of the use of terminals in a humid and tropical environment, and they are also deposited in a chamber for several weeks and subjected to high humidity which can reach 95%.
Another test is to check whether mobile phones are ready to be transported in conditions similar to that expected in “real life”as the lost pants pockets or a bag full of keys and coins.
“When you carry a phone in your pocket, you can rub or bend the material on your clothes that are in contact with the phone.’s technicians from Nokia simulate these effects with equipment that twist and push the devices. Nokia has even a few jeans that are used during testing, and that allowed us to simulate the friction that is the subject every time the device in and out of pocket, ” the manufacturer explained.
To learn how to go out in a hostile environment, for example a lady’s handbag, was developed a “rattle where electrical apparatus is placed together with other objects to assess their resistance. ”
The last note goes to the keys of the phones, which are pressed a thousand times in the laboratory. This is because, according to the company’s accounts, a “normal user” presses “major keys on your phone, on average, 200 to 300 times per day.
